Telepresence in the Spotlight at the
2008 Wainhouse Research Collaboration Summit in Berlin

February 12 2008, Duxbury MA. - Telepresence has captured the imagination of the videoconferencing world. But does it deliver, and what are the downsides? And how does telepresence compare to traditional videoconferencing? These topics as well as others on visual communications will be a special feature at this year's Wainhouse Research Collaboration Summit to take place in Berlin, Germany, 8-10 April 2008. The WR Summit will feature 19 presentations from Wainhouse Research analysts, customers, and industry experts that cover the gamut of audio, video, and web communications.

Telepresence-focused presentations include:

Robert Mayer-Klamm, who is responsible for Strategy and Architecture at Qimonda, will be speaking on Qimonda's rationale and strategy for building the Qimonda Video Core Cell to support their needs for global round table meetings with a near telepresence experience. Qimonda is a leading global memory supplier with a broad diversified DRAM product portfolio. Dr. Reithofer's presentation will discuss the innovative, customized system deployed in North America, Asia, and Europe and what the benefits and challenges have been with telepresence.

John-Erik Horn, Head of Technical Innovation at Media-Saturn-Holding GmbH, will explain how Media-Saturn began a VoIP rollout in 2004 with the goal of implementing a common telecommunication platform for all stores and how applications have been added to improve communications between stores and customers. The deployment of 20 telepresence systems has enhanced the quality of communications between headquarters and international subsidiaries. Mr. Horn's presentation will review the deployment and highlight how telepresence has accelerated business decision processes at Media Saturn

Andrew W. Davis, Wainhouse Research Senior Analyst, will give an industry overview and highlight the current drivers and market trends in videoconferencing and unified communications. His presentation will cover how vendors and customers are adjusting to new technologies, new market players, and new macro-economic factors, including global business relationships and climate change.

Other presentations at the Summit will discuss visual communications as a new class of services for the enterprise and SMB and the integration of videoconferencing into Unified Communications offerings from Microsoft, Cisco, and other enterprise vendors.

The Wainhouse Research Collaboration Summit, now in its fourth year in Europe, has become the premier industry event and brings together the top enterprise conferencing and collaboration managers, videoconferencing professionals, meeting facilitators, and IT/network decision-makers with the industry's leading innovators, service providers, and experts.
