Wainhouse Research Summit Adds Focus on
Mashups, Mobility, Unified Communications and Visual Solutions
for Distance Ed and e-Learning

Market Analysis & Consulting firm and
US Distance Learning Association to Partner

18 June 2008, Duxbury MA - As a result of the rapid growth of existing and emerging technologies for Distance Education and e-Learning, Wainhouse Research will dedicate a day of its 2008 Summit in Boston to the topics unified communications, web conferencing, videoconferencing, Learning Management Systems, mobility, and more for training and teaching over distance. The eighth annual Wainhouse Research Collaboration Summit is scheduled for July 16-18 in Boston, MA. The event, to be held at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, will feature a technology showcase the afternoon of July 16 followed by two days of conferencing and networking with some of the nation's leading experts on collaboration solutions and distance ed. Speakers on Friday, July 18, will focus on Distance Education and e-Learning for corporate, university, K-12, government, and not-for-profit markets.

Scheduled to speak on July 18 are Doyle Friskney (University of Kentucky) on why both OCS and Sametime make sense for collaboration and data; Steve Nelson (State of Oregon) on using corporate advertising to support online collaboration applications; John Bourne (The Sloan Consortium) on his 1500-member organization's use of Second Life, Elluminate, and Drupal; Ruth Blankenbaker (Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration) on user-vendor partnerships and K-20 content markets; Rebecca Clothey (Drexel University) on multimedia for adult education; and Max Kolstad (President, Arkansas Distance Learning Association) on interactive video for education, telemedicine, and criminal justice. Two Wainhouse Research analysts, Alan Greenberg and David Dines, will speak on technology mashups and enterprise social networking.

“The Summit will prove to be a compelling event for anyone interested in building or enhancing his distance education and e-Learning programs - or for vendors building products for education and training,” said Alan Greenberg, Distance Education and e-Learning practice manager for Wainhouse Research. “The discussion of technologies, programs, and business models will be invaluable to users and vendors alike. Attendees will come away with answers for addressing challenges and with new ideas for the future.”

The July 16 technology showcase will feature solutions from SMART Technologies, AGT, Avistar, BT, Compunetix, Dialcom, Emblaze-VCON, Global Crossing, Juniper, Masergy, Netbriefings, Radvision, Siemens, Vidyo and York Telecom. Speakers on July 17 include keynoter Andrew Lippman, Associate Director of MIT Media Labs, on "Surviving in a Digital Life World," as well as others who will discuss telepresence, videoconferencing, Telework, conferencing services, and the China markets.

Additionally, Wainhouse Research is partnering with the USDLA to bring the firm's expertise in conferencing and collaboration to bear on the USDLA's interest in solutions for teaching and training. USDLA will be an association sponsor of the Boston Collaboration Summit and - for the upcoming year - Wainhouse Research will be a USDLA Silver sponsor.
