New Research Reports from Wainhouse Research
Says Market for Audio, Video, and Web Conferencing Services
to Reach $9.8 Billion by 2006, up from $2.8 Billion in 2000

January 8, 2002, Brookline, MA - Wainhouse Research today announced availability of the company's newest market research report, "Conferencing Markets and Strategies Volume 3: The Services Industry: Audio, Video, Web & Streaming Conference Services," an in-depth study of rich media conferencing service providers available to support enterprise conferencing applications.

The Conferencing Service Provider (CSP) report forecasts that the overall conferencing services market will grow by 22% over the five year forecast period to $9.8 billion in 2006, but that underneath this umbrella figure, some service segments will be growing much faster. Audio conferencing, which makes up the lion's share of the total conferencing market, is forecast to grow at over 18%, while the unattended audio conferencing segment is forecast to grow at over 33%. Web conferencing services are forecast to have the highest five-year compound annual growth rate - over 42% - despite a forecasted 19% drop in average selling price. All conferencing segments, including video and web, are expected to migrate to unattended, on-demand services that present both lower costs for the end users as well as higher margins for the service providers.

"The conferencing service provider industry has seen a sharp up-tick in business since 9/11," comments Wainhouse Research's Managing Partner, Andrew W. Davis, "and after a healthy first nine months will end the year up 28% from 2000. While we don't expect this sharp increase to last, we do expect a long term positive effect on the usage of conferencing service providers and hence their revenues, despite the continuous downward pressure on prices."

Based on data collected by Wainhouse Research from several dozen vendors who shared proprietary revenue figures in order to help compile accurate industry statistics, the resulting 195-page report contains over 40 figures and includes a detailed five-year forecast for four different conferencing service types in three different geographic regions.

The report also includes an overview and analysis of the top 30 conferencing service provider companies that Wainhouse Research believes are either leaders in their respective markets or are candidates to become industry players because of their unique technology, innovative business strategy, or position with respect to the impending IP transition. Another 20 secondary service providers are also reviewed.

The Services Market: Audio, Video, Web & Streaming Conference Services is Volume 3 of Wainhouse Research's Conferencing Markets and Strategies. Volume 1 covers Multimedia Networking Infrastructure Products and Vendors; Volume 2 covers the Video and Web Clients for Group and Personal Conferencing.

"Conferencing Markets and Strategies" is available on an annual subscription basis for $15,000. Individual reports are also available separately for $3,495.
