First $1B Quarter for Worldwide Collaboration Services Market

New Study on the Collaboration Services Market from Wainhouse Research
tracks revenues and minute volume for audio and web conferencing,
and video bridging services

June 21, 2007, Duxbury, MA - Information from Wainhouse Research's (WR) latest study indicates the worldwide collaboration services market achieved its first $1B quarter in Q1 2007.

Collaboration services include audio conferencing, web conferencing, and video bridging services. These services are offered by traditional carriers such as AT&T, VerizonBusiness British Telecom, and specialty providers such as WebEx, Microsoft, Genesys, Premiere Global, InterCall, and Arkadin.

Much of the growth for collaboration services has been driven by a continued demand for organizations and individuals to participate and contribute in group meetings without the cost and loss of productivity associated with travel - whether across campus or across countries. Additionally, the study, "Q1 2007 Collaboration Service Provider (CSP) SpotCheck", indicates collaboration and conferencing services are becoming more affordable to greater numbers of people. Average per minute prices for popular operator unattended services have dropped 42% in the last four years.

Year-over-year (Q1 07 vs. Q1 06) facts from the study indicate:
  • 27% increase in audio conferencing minute volume - a dramatic increase versus earlier periods
  • 7% price decline in unattended audio prices per minute
  • 19% rise in events or operator attended audio revenue
  • 20% gain in web conferencing revenue
The report is available in-full to active writers and editors of publications. Contact the author, Marc Beattie, mbeattie@wainhouse.com, for a copy.

The 2007 CSP SpotCheck study is produced quarterly for network service providers. The series covers 12 local markets in three regions. Data is collected from over 35 providers for each study and provides details of operator attended and unattended audio revenue, minutes, and average sales price; web conferencing revenue; and video bridging revenue.
