New Research Reports Says Market for Business Videoconferencing Systems to reach $1.67 Billion by 2005, up from $588 Million in 1999

Study Forecasts 100% Growth Rate for IP Videoconferencing Terminals

March 28 2000, Brookline MA - Wainhouse Research today announced availability of the company's newest market research report, "Teleconferencing Markets and Strategies Volume 2: Videoconferencing Endpoints," an in-depth study of the videoconferencing market and the products and technologies that are shaping the future of visual collaboration.

Videoconferencing Endpoints forecasts that the overall market for Enterprise Group systems will experience a compound annual growth rate of 16.7%, but that underneath this umbrella figure, some product segments will be growing much faster. For example, the Internet Protocol (IP) part of the business is forecast to grow at rates over 100% over the five-year forecast period, while some of the traditional product segments will be in decline. Desktop conferencing overall is expected to grow at over 50% in units, but less than 10% in revenues due to declining average selling prices and a dramatic technology shift expected to occur on the desktop.

The report is based on data collected by Wainhouse Research from 15 vendors who reported their 1999 revenue stream by eight different product categories and four geographic areas. Unit sales data was also collected by product categories. Wainhouse Research believes this is the first time such a detailed study of the videoconferencing industry has ever been achieved.

The market study includes an analysis of the 15 leading suppliers of videoconferencing systems with a discussion of their corporate strategies and an overview of their major products. The videoconferencing systems are compared in a detailed matrix at the end of the report. "This study by Wainhouse Research is an invaluable source to anyone who wants a quick understanding of where the videoconferencing market and technologies are heading as well as a thorough overview of all the major products and vendors," states Ira M. Weinstein, Global Head of Media Services at Credit Suisse First Boston.

Videoconferencing Endpoints is Volume 2 of Wainhouse Research's three part series. Volume 1 covered Multimedia Networking Infrastructure Products; Volume 3 will cover the teleconferencing services industry.

The 220-page Volume 2 report with over sixty figures includes a detailed five-year forecast for thirteen different types of videoconferencing products as well as a review of all the major hardware suppliers.

"Teleconferencing Markets and Strategies" is available on an annual subscription basis for $12,500. Individual reports are also available separately for $3,295.
