analyzes IBM's Unified Communications Strategy

May 1, 2007, Duxbury, MA - Wainhouse Research (WR) has published a new industry report, "IBM's Unified Communications and Collaboration Strategy: Big Blue's Big Bet on Eclipse and Sametime." This research report analyzes IBM's vision for presence-enabled enterprise communications, including IM, voice, video, and web collaboration.

The 238-page report analyzes IBM's Unified Communications and Collaboration Strategy, IBM Lotus Sametime as a Collaboration Platform, as well as the Sametime Partner Ecosystem. The report provides a comprehensive analysis of IBM Lotus' recently announced UC2 strategy focusing on Sametime as both an application and extensible platform for enterprise presence, instant messaging, voice and video over IP, and web conferencing. It identifies 21 strengths IBM Lotus and Sametime have in the unified communications marketplace, along with 10 weaknesses. The report also compares IBM and Microsoft in 17 market and product characteristics, noting for each whether IBM or Microsoft exhibit leadership or are at parity one with another, and the study concludes with Wainhouse Research's assessment of IBM's chances for success in the unified communications market.

"This report has been specifically written for enterprises who are crafting their unified communications and collaboration strategy right now," states report author, Dr. E.
