Wainhouse Research Survey Reveals Most Conferencing-Savvy Organizations Well Underway With Green Initiatives Over half of respondents claim collaborative technologies
are part of their plan for reducing carbon footprint July 31, 2007, Duxbury, MA - According to a recent Wainhouse Research survey 84% of respondents stated that their organizations have plans in place for becoming environmentally friendly. 58% of respondents claimed that those plans include deployment of collaboration applications such as videoconferencing, IP telephony, telepresence, web and audio conferencing, and unified communications
"What is encouraging about these findings," said Dr. E. Brent Kelly, Partner and Unified Communications Practice Manager at Wainhouse Research, "is that many companies recognize the benefits to the environment and to their business continuity and disaster recovery plans that collaborative and conferencing applications can deliver. If organizations, even small ones, would make a little effort to focus on using the collaborative capabilities to decrease carbon emissions through reduced travel and telecommuting, significant environmental and business benefits could be achieved. While travel is necessary for many people, recognizing that the technologies available today are very effective for enabling people to meet face-to-face and share information without leaving home or the office is one area where executives could and should focus some strategic effort." These findings along many others on the business use of unified communications, collaboration, and conferencing technologies are found in the report titled, "Rich Media Metrics - Unified Communications, Videoconferencing, and Collaboration" just published by Wainhouse Research. The report, with over 25 charts and tables, covers plans for business continuity following a natural or man-made disaster, teleworking initiatives, IP telephony interest, IM and presence deployments, and videoconferencing.
