Wainhouse Research Summit to be Webcast New 2-Day Event to Explore the Future of Audio, Video, and Web Conferencing Will be Available Live Over the Internet June 26, 2001, Brookline MA - Wainhouse Research has announced that its first Summit meeting, a two-day conference to explore the future of conferencing technologies and applications, will be webcast live over the Internet. The Wainhouse Research Summit is structured as a series of highly interactive presentations and roundtable discussions featuring industry analysts, speakers from key end-user companies, and selected vendors/service providers moving to IP and enhanced conferencing services. The webcasting service will enable anyone with an Internet-connected PC to watch the event using either a Microsoft Windows Media Player or Real Networks player. Webcast participants will be able to view the presentation materials and hear and see the speakers and panelists. Users will be able to choose between 20, 40, and 100 kbps streams, depending on their local connection to the Internet. "We've had a lot of interest in a summit webcast from conferencing professionals in Europe and Asia who simply cannot get away for an extended trip at this time," notes conference chairman Andrew W. Davis. "In addition, some of the channel partners in the industry will find the webcast a very cost-effective way to send several of their staff to this highly educational event." "Webcasting is an effective use of today's conferencing technologies," notes Wainhouse Research analyst Andy Nilssen. We are happy to be using the streaming-based technology to broaden the reach of the Wainhouse Research Summit. Webcasting also provides us a way to archive the Summit for viewing-on-demand by audiences that may not be able to view the live webcast event." The webcasting service is being provided by InView, one of the major service providers in the audio, video, and data conferencing markets. During the Wainhouse Research Summit, InView will also be providing a two-way, real-time, IP-based videoconferencing connection between the Summit in Boston and participants at Lawrence Berkeley National Labs in California through InView's IP Video Bridging Service. A pass to the entire two-day event via webcasting is $795. Both webcast and conference attendees will gain access to the Summit archives for a 30-day post event period.
