Updated Report from Wainhouse Research Describes Consolidation and New Developments in Video Network Management Software

Equipment Vendors Outpacing Independent Software Vendors in Sales and Functional Innovations, Slower Growth Predicted

March 9, 2004, Brookline MA - Wainhouse Research today announced availability of an updated market research report, "Video Communications Management Systems: Industry Analysis and Market Forecast," an in-depth study of the network management, call processing, and scheduling software products that support video networks. The report, authored by Wainhouse Research Senior Analyst and Consultant Alan Greenberg, details the growth of this industry by major market segments through 2008. The report also includes an in-depth analysis of the market and technology trends affecting video management systems, as well as a discussion of both the major and emerging vendors.

New standards, such as the H.350 directory services and H.450 Supplementary Services standards, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), and Session Initiation Protocol for IM and Presence Leveraging Extensions (SIMPLE) are driving changes in the management software space. Meanwhile the hardware vendors have vastly improved their ability to manage competitor endpoints and infrastructure elements, have added enhanced scheduling capabilities, and have left the independent software vendors scrambling to deliver solutions for unmet needs and struggling to find a market for their software. The market was flat from 2002 to 2003 at approximately $24.4M worldwide, reflecting vendor consolidation and a soft market for enterprise software.

"Video communications management has become a must-have for the vendors, and buyers continue to ask for a tool like this new report to help them understand the various capabilities offered," states Andrew W. Davis, managing partner at Wainhouse Research. "This software manages and schedules endpoints, bridges, gateways, gatekeepers, bandwidth, and other video-related products. Nevertheless, we find a great deal of differentiation remains between product offerings."

Video Communications Management Systems is over 200 pages in length and includes over 25 figures and tables plus detailed product matrices. Vendors profiled in depth include Aethra, AMX Corporation, Forgent Networks, Magicsoft, Polycom, RADVISION, Renovo Software LLC, TANDBERG, VCON, and VisionNex.

Video Communications Management Systems is available in two formats. The full report, which includes an Industry Analysis and Market Forecast, is $1,995, including hardcopy and electronic versions for unlimited internal distribution. An end user version without the forecast is available for $995 in hardcopy only.

Details, including a free executive summary and table of contents, are available on the company's web site, www.wainhouse.com/reports .
