Hi all,

Having been in the VC business for just over a week and a half now, I have a rather elementary question.

I have been hired to promote my company's public room. Alas, I just learned that phrase this week.

It seems to me that any company of medium size or more would be better off buying a system rather than paying a per use fee.

My question is this, are public room's days numbered? Is there really a sellable future in it? What is the market for it?

It's been great reading all the topics in the forum the last week and a half and I look forward to the continued insight on the technologies.

Thanks

Mark...

I think that public room service will continue to be existant for the forseeable future as some people who don't need to buy systems might need to use this kind service from time to time.

One a year or twice a year usage frequency of videoconferencing might make such people to rather decide on using rental systems or using this kind of service rather than acutually buying sytems and install them in their organizations. It really depends.

Therefore, I basically do not think that the days for the public room are numbered or something.

We have seen our Public Room business grow steadily through a combination of Internet marketing, cultivation of relationships with room brokers, vertical marketing.
I think you really need to consider how tiny the percent penetration/corporate ownership numbers are for video conference hardware.
There is a GOOD 12 years of public room revenues to look forward to.
