A very open and candid interview. Good luck going forward.

I think the interview suggested a good lesson for all of us.

I think that "arrogance" is a pitfall for every successful person who lives on this planet and a beginning of decline for those who are successful in what they are doing as history has already proved.

How to cope with or manage a fine line between "confidence" and "arrogance" may be an important issue for all human beings.

If the arrogance was partly the case behind the fall of PictureTel, I remember that following history in Japan. There seems no difference in this regard between east and west.

I just remembered our Japanese history with regard to the Heike noble family, once mighty in Japan about 900-1000 years ago or more, but disappeared completely from the history destroyed or eradicated by other rising entity called, the Genji family that overtook the family during the course of the history.

When the Heike family was its hey day, they even said that someone who is not related or connection to the Heike family are not "human", and disregarded them as just an animal or something. They were really taking a kind of looking down on others and thought that what they themselves did was always right. It was because they had a strong power or say in the noble society of Japan and entire country at that time, which put them to think themselves that they were the most important and the best, but there were some group of samurai who hated the Heike family. And in the end, Heike family in its entirety, was beaten by the Genji family at Dan-noura battle.

Whatever it is, if you are in business or any activities.

1. Respect for individuals regardless any social status or etc.. as human.
2. Work for the best smile of customers or others or the benefit of people as a whole or as society.
3.Respect for your competitors or do not compete with them just look at the best smile of your customers or people.
If someone is going to compete with you, just give them the way first before you.
4. Money is not the first purpose, the money is the result of your commitment, passion, dedication to your customers other people around you based on pure mind as a whole or as society.
5. If you are trying to deceive, cheat, cause trouble to etc others in vicious mind, deception, cheating, troubles or in similar form will fall on you sooner or later.
6.If you want to protect yourself, DO NOT protect yourself. And do just work for the best of your customers or people around you as a whole. There will be nothing to fear about in front of you.

Business strategy, marketing, or all other technical methods around us are important but above 6 are more important before anything else. As a human, all of these 6 points are difficult to do, but we must be committed to above 6(or maybe more), otherwise, it would be difficult to survive or succeed regardless of advanced implementation of strategy, marketing etc.. simply because, who is runninng business or our activities around us? We, humans are running these.
