I read Andrew Davis’ reaction to the Intellinet announcement with great interest. I have met with the folks at IVCi for a technical briefing on Intellinet and I have to say I am intrigued. After much skepticism about video over IP and the “total solution”, they appear to have a total solution. For videoconferencing to flourish, it has to “be like the phone” as many have said. I disagree with that extreme, but it must be easy. I am very familiar with GSS, another IVCi offering and it is a formidable scheduling tool. I am also very familiar with Forgent’s VNP, part of the network tool set Intellinet employs, and it is for real as well. A good friend of mine in IT at Fidelity will attest to the integrity of the Savvis network so we seem to have a formidable combination bringing video over IP to the next step – large scale adoption.
