I think on balance it was right on and commend Andrew for his leadership and understanding of the sector. I think and hope they will cause Polycom a head ache or two. The one area I feel he didn't address head on was the question posed about the short term potential of IP based solutions. All vendors that have a strong market foothold have to deal with the double edged sword of when should they offer a more cost effective solution, that utilizes the latest emerging technologies and the network solutions of the future. The established vendors risk hurting sales off their higher priced current solutions when they offer more cost effective solutions to soon, but they risk letting a new player gain momentum if they arn't ready to pounce. I am convinced, IP based solutions are the ideal way to go and are coming of age as we speak. I am sure if WR asked him today if he knows about Vianet's multipoint solution, his response would be Vianet who... Well that should change here in real short order. Keep up the great work. regards, the new kid in town. IP: Logged |
