Is it my imagination or is the new VTEL 2600 really a PictureTel / Polycom iPower Exec ?

I bet Polycom had more than a few of those holding down a building in strong winds. Looks like they decided to sell them to VTEL. It's bound to be a major success now that VTEL are selling it, what with their massive distribution, fired up dealers and world class customer relations.

VTEL, I have to ask, what were you thinking? Polycom couldn't sell such a device even with all their resources, why o why do you think you will ?

Please some one tell me I've missed the point here. I like diversity in the market, I believe in competition, but come on this is a senseless and lazy product announcement as far as I can see.

Even Andrew can't be bothered starting a thread on it. That probably says enough.

Any one else got an opinion??
