Why is H.460 created only for H.323? Why not make it work with SIP? Yes, H.323 is still a significant standard and will remain so for years, but the big service providers are all talking about SIP.

Interestingly Radvision is missing from the article - they are mentioned as helping with the standard - I cant believe that they would not create their own H.460 solution. Anyone have an idea what they are up to?
As for SIP, lets fix the problem we have with H.323 first - I have not had a single customer yet ask for a SIP solution as yet. I am sure that SIP will soon follow once there is the demand out there.

This thing is going to make a big difference for laptop users (mobile videoconferencing participants). First we have to wait a bit when the H.323 software clients will support the feature, of course.
I wonder what will happen in infrastructure side. I understand that the border controller functionality can be implemented in software. And main videoconference users are universities. So - can we expect open source border controllers in near future?
That would increase desktop videoconferncing pretty well. Interesting, what would it mean for group system market.

Had a demo of the Radvision Pathfinder solution yesterday and from the presentation the server is Linux based, but the client is MS based, so maybe they are halfway there. Seems easy to set up and use as well.
