I was disappointed Polycom didn't announce anything about high definition (HD) conferencing yet on the endpoint. As a Polycom customer with Polycom endpoints that need upgrading, I'd like to see a product announcement soon. As LifeSize prepares to release their next software version, hopefully addressing some version 1 weaknesses, I may look to upgrade to LifeSize instead of Polycom.IP: Logged |

Soo, how's busines at Lifesize sales jmsai? Considering all the throwaway accounts you guys are making on these forums I'd guess it's pretty slow, but that's just me.

Actually Ztrobe, I'm not a Lifesize throwaway account. I'm an IT manager at an engineering firm that has high quality expectations for videoconferencing... I've seen the LifeSize demo and it's impressive, but the package is not complete. Features that we use regularly are not in the version 1 software for LifeSize. I have several Polycom iPower systems that need upgrading. Because I can't do them all at once, I'd prefer to see Polycom come out with a HD solution so I can keep it all under the Polycom umbrella because despite all the standards, the less common features usually work best if you can keep your product line to one company or even one type of system. So I'm anxiously waiting for some real product announcements from Polycom on HD products, not just capabilities or possible upgrade paths. An HD capable bridge isn't much of an announcement at this point.IP: Logged |

Not to cause a stir, but I am genuinely interested as NIST takes these things quite seriousl. Can anyone point me to the actual validation certificate for Polycom's FIPS 140-2? All I can find is a 'pre validation list' with them on it. Sean IP: Logged |

I am just curious how the market segment being developed by products like Polycom RPX and HP's Halo, and Cisco's coming up impact on the overall videoconferencing market.Keis This message has been edited by Keisuke Hashimoto on 30 May 2006 IP: Logged |
